The Dawson Whitetail Ranch is a year round hunting operation offering both all-inclusive & self service hunting packages on ranch located in the Legendary South Texas Brush Country which is known for its abundance of game & beautiful landscape. We are located south of Sabinal, Texas, and 1 1/2 hours west of the San Antonio airport.
Hunters, Non-Hunters & Corporate Outings can experience Whitetail Deer, Dove, Wild Hogs, Turkeys & exotic plains game species from around the world. One can also enjoy our sporting clay range, 1600 sq. foot outdoor entertainment patio, swimming pool & area attractions.
Our excellent facilities are exclusively reserved for your group of three or more guests and our professional and personable staff will attend to all details that ensure you a quality outdoor experience. Our guests leave as our friends verses a customer at a commercial operation. Commonly, reservations for the next visit are booked before their departure.
Our big game animals harvested are all trophies to the individual hunter. You are never under any pressure to take an animal, the choice is truly yours. Our presentation of what we offer is exactly what you will experience.
$1050 Special Offer – We have a limited number of opennings for early season combo hunts. The package includes 2 Whitetail or 2 axis does, 1 Whitetail Buck with 3 points or less and 2 Hogs.
Whitetail Deer Hunters have enjoyed a success rate of almost 98%for the last 6 years
Season = October through February

Whitetail Deer hunting is the origin of our hunting program and our ranch has been enrolled in a TPWD approved Managed Land Deer Program since 2000. Quality Deer Management Practices; harvesting Does, seasonal food plots, year round protein feeding, aging, & selective harvest have produced many beautiful bucks up to a 192″ Boone & Crocket score. Like most Texas deer hunting, our hunts are conducted in comfortable elevated hunting blinds with stairs & handrails for additional safety. They overlook large food plots or corn fed scendaro’s which is a Texas game management tool for hunters & ranch managers in aiding to harvest 10% of the estimated 4.5 million deer population in this state. You should expect to see up to 20 bucks each hunt as we manage for a two buck to one doe ratio. We do deliver a successful quality hunting experience for the individual who is short on time and wants to see many trophy animals while relaxing away the everyday stress from back home. An out of state Whitetail hunting license is approximately $300 and not included in your hunt price.
Bronze All-Inclusive Lodge Hunt - $1,595* –A management buck up to 7 points and score up to 130 , 1 trophy hog of your choosing, 1 meat hog, 3 days/2 nights lodging and accommodations
Silver All-Inclusive Lodge Hunt – $2550* –A mature buck up to 9 points scoring less than 140′ +1 trophy hog of your choosing, one meat hog, 3 days/2 nights lodging and accommodations.
Gold Hunt All-Inclusive Lodge Hunt – $250 per day—4 day minimum—objective is to harvest a mature buck 10 points or better + I trophy hog of your choosing and 1 meat hog (after the deer is harvested)
Gold Hunt Trophy Fees:
Scores of 140’s =$3000 150’s=$4000 160’s=$5000 170’s plus—$6500 190+ = negotiable
The daily lodge fee would be credited towards the trophy fee if an animal is harvested.
*Bronze, Silver, Hog and Exotic hunts can be upgraded for the appropriate trophy fee adjustment.
Antlerless deer or exotic hunts may be available as needed.
Hunts include all meals, snacks, beverages, evening bar, & I on 1 guide.
Meat processing, taxidermy, & shipping are not included but can be arranged easily.
We have a local taxidermist that assists with the scoring of your Trophy. We will cape your animal immediately to assure you of a quality mount with no hair slippage. We provide a walk in cooler and ice as well as relationships with local butchers to take care of your meat. You can typically get a deer or a hog cut and wrapped for less than $100. You can pick up a cooler at the local WALMART.
Exotics and Plains Game
Season- Year Round
(Minimum group of 4 to maximum of 12 hunters)
Over 3/4 of the ranch terrain is covered with thick South Texas brush, strategically located food plots and mesquiteand oak trees throughout. The road system is basically level except along the Sabinal River.
This ranch has Red Stag, Fallow Deer, Axis Deer and Black Buck among other exotic species.
Because exotics are non-native to Texas, they can be hunted year round and can be a good excuse to get some friends and or family together during the off season and go hunting. Exotics are also a good add on to a Whitetail or Hog hunt.
An out of state license for Exotic hunting is only $45.

Wild Turkey are plentiful throughout the ranch and along the river. We can never predict where they will be as they tend to migrate some but sightings are common and calling them is very effective. This can be a very exciting hunt and a place to practice your calling skills. Trophy fee of $250 per bird.
We provide a semi guided hunt with the full lodge package at the $250 per day rate with a two day minimum. There are trophy fees of $250. The seasons are in the spring as well as during the Whitetail Deer season.
The same taxidermy and game care service as in the deer package is available.
Wild Hogs
Season — Year Round
(Minimun group of 4 Maximum of 12 hunters)
Our ranch is located in the “Hog Capital of Texas” area recognized in newspaper articles and celebrated by our local community whom hosts an annual spring “Wild Hog Catching Contest”. Hogs can be hunted year round, are great to eat, and a good excuse to get some friends and or family together during the off season and go hunting. If one is selective and not in a hurry, you could harvest hogs weighing 200 pounds to 350 pounds. Trophy Hogs make great full head or European mounts.
Your semi-guided hunt will include a guide who will drop off & pick up each hunter in a box blind or bow stand along a corn fed route which is a legal and successful method of hunting the large numbers of wild hogs in Texas. An out of state license for hog hunting is only $45.
This is truly a fun hunting experience and a great family affair. Exotics can be harvested during this hunt as well for the appropriate trophy fees.
All-Inclusive Lodge Hunt — $850* (2 nights/3 days) These hunts can be upgraded to include Whitetail Deer by adding the trophy fee adjustment.
*All-Inclusive hunt 2 includes nights, 3 days, meals, snacks, beverages, evening bar, and a guide to drop off and pick up. Taxidermy and butchering services are the same as our deer hunts.
Booking Information:
We typically don’t mix groups and feel your experience will be more enjoyable if we don’t. The entire lodge will be for your party’s exclusive use.
A $200 non-refundable deposit is required for each person hunting hogs and exotics. A 4 person minimum is required. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required for deer hunters; again a two person minimum is required. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required for businesses booking 6 or more guests. A confirmation will be mailed within 30 days of receiving your deposit.
